well materials are not really things that live but they are things that live in them instead.

Explanation: well since materials dont drink, dont eat ,dont breath in air if you compare it with us humans and plants well except for the fact that plants eat well for that part plants just absorb nutrients from the ground well a material doesnt have those traits or characteristics but it can be lived in like I said like for example animals, bacteria, insects and ect.
